Tuning on the Field

Field Calibration at Competitions

When you get to competitions one of your responsibility’s is making sure you don’t miss field calibration, check the time and remind pit boss or cuevas as it gets closer.

You need to bring:

  • Programming Laptop

  • Ethernet Dongle (You don‘t have a dedicated port)

  • Ethernet cable

  • Robot with battery

  • 2 people to carry the robot for you

  • Measuring tape (Maybe we can find one in centimeters)

To save time:

  • Power on the robot before it is in place

  • Have the laptop set up and powered on

  • Precheck the limelight’s in pit, if you have a defective connection, physical issue, or if 3d position is wrong you just lost your calibration time

  • Define landmarks before you get on the field, even better if the people you bring know them too

Once you get on the field:

  1. Ask them to place robot against predefined landmark (clear view of April tag too)

  2. Open limelight UI

  3. Tune camera constants (Hopefully shouldnt need to)

  4. Copy constants to all limelights

  5. Open advanced tab and confirm mega tag 1 estimate is accurate(mega tag 2 will likely be off as the gyro was not initialized)

  6. Repeat step 5 for all landmarks

The practice field often has different lighting, use a different pipeline to change lighting constants
